Dinah Washington
'The Queen of the Blues'
Singer and pianist, Dinah sang Blues, Jazz, R&B and Pop with pure style and mastery. Her gritty, raw vocals and class made her one of the greatest female vocalists to have sung jazz and popular music in the 20th century. She has been called “the most popular black female recording artist of the 1950s.” Her work would pave the way for the pop stardom for future Black female artists.
